Windows 7 "GodMode" Folder
Create a folder anywhere on your Windows 7 desktop and name it this: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} It will immediately and automagically turn into a control panel-like icon and have *all* the important settings, organized nicely, that you otherwise have to hunt all over the various parts of control panel Windows to find. This also works on Vista (32bit) and Server 2008

I constantly tinker but don’t know how to really code. I think I am going to sit down and force myself to make it through a basic or starter project with Ruby/Rails this weekend. I love the internet and computers. I think it’s time to develop a real programming skill set and try to use it.

Big companies can be confusing
Especially when customers, competitors, investors, analysts, bloggers, and everyone in between are trying to elicit “the narrative” … or even just rely on the companies services. Google has confused me for the second time this week. First it was just noticing that they added support for H.264 video in the Google Docs service right before turning around and dropping support for...

Not that this is a big deal, but are anyone else’s tumblr hearts disappearing? I mean like not just ones that you’ve given, but one’s you’ve received? Is this normal?

I’ve been meaning to check out all of Cutlerish’s tumblr and twitter extensions. I know that he’s done a ton of work there adding functionality for everyone. Way to go, Cutlerish.  Let me know what your favs are. (they can be his as well as any other that you use and like a lot)

Anybody want to do a tech blog (or tumblr) thing with me? I’ve got the jones but I need another writer or two to make it work. Message me if you like following or sharing tech news and/or have opinions on it and stuff.

Don't tell Gruber,
but I just noticed that Google added H.264 video support to google docs - within a week of announcing that their web browser, Chrome, would be dropping support for it.

HTML Video Codec Support in Chrome →
parislemon: Wait, I’m confused. Chromium (which is to say, Google) is dropping support for H.264 because it’s not an open standard. But they will continue to bake Flash, which is not an open standard, into their browser? This just reeks of more Google vs. Apple nonsense. It does smell of that doesn’t it? Although it’s not really fair to compare a codec to an entire development...

meyechael asked: Do you regret going to the funeral? or are you glad you went?
Jan 11th
Truthful Tuesday
So I went to the funeral. I was totally anonymous. A lot of people were there so it was easy to fly under the radar. Beside, none of these people have ever met me, much less even know about my existence.  It was so bizarre and surreal, me and my baggage notwithstanding. He was a seriously degenerate drug addict and criminal when I was conceived. I already knew this from my mom. What she...

Truthful
I found out my biological father, whom just discovered online last year but never got to meet, just died and his funeral is tomorrow about 2 hours away in the next state. It’s totally like a tv or movie moment, me deciding if I want to go as this awkward stranger, looking at a bunch of other strangers I’m related to by the guy who’s lying there dead. (his wife would be the only...

Exited Through The Gift Shop.
I saw Exit Through The Gift Shop last night using Netflix streaming to a game counsel for the first time (and on ‘borrowed’ Wifi no less - it worked AWESOME even with low signal) The movie was pretty awesome. It made me kind of sad about what has become of the street art scene, but I think that’s exactly the intention of the movie. It also seems kind of like a mea culpa from Banksy and Shepard...

uncledynamite: My Dear Nephews & Nieces, I think when people first set up their Twitter accounts, they sit at first and stare stupidly at the screen, waiting for something to happen. I know I did. They root around for friends and find a few. They follow celebs, and a few news outlets. The feed that they read…

a new fav site for 2011: FavRatio
dysolution: FavRatio is a new Twitter fav aggregator site. One of the tweet ranking algorithms, FavWeight, factors in the number of stars each person gives over time: the more you give, the less each individual star is worth during that time period. Leaderboards are available in both the traditional and weighted variety. The code that runs the site is freely available open source. For more...
